The “There Was an Old Lady…” series – they’re goofy, over-the-top, and kids can’t get enough of the silliness!
This series is a great way to practice repetitive reading and it won’t take long for your little one to join in and read along with you. For this activity, I had my little one hold up each picture as I read the story and place to pictures in order on the couch to show her sequencing and get familiar with the new vocabulary (fiddle, clover, leprechaun).
After reading the story, she placed a gold coin next to each pictures to retell the sequence of events back to me. Her favorite part was getting to the ending and telling me how the old lady burps out a big rainbow (anything to get them to enjoy reading, right?).
