Looking for an easy way to bring a smile to your little one’s face this Valentines day?
Create a Hallways of Hearts!
I ordered simple foam hearts, but you could also very easily create them out of construction paper. The night before Valentine’s Day, we read “The Day it Rained Hearts” by Felicia Bond. Then, on Valentine’s morning, my little opened her door to a path of hearts leading from her bedroom to her Valentine treats (some simple Dollar Tree crafts for the day). When we woke up, she loved that it rained hearts in her house.
As a follow up, we also sorted the hearts by color and counted how many were in each category. We talked about which color has the most and which had the least. Quick, easy, and introduced my little to the idea of sorting, colors, and counting. We also did some super simple crafting to help decorate for the day – Dollar Tree has everything you need!
And what Valentine’s Day would be complete without reading “My Fuzzy Valentine” by Naomi Kleinberg and illustrated by Christopher Moroney?! Elmo tries to find out who sent him a beautiful valentine.
