Any other PAW Patrol addicted kiddos out there?
THIS. SHOW… My little one just can’t get enough. We watch, listen, read, play, build, and even eat (yes, there are crackers and drinks available) PAW Patrol. We even have to brush our teeth with a PAW Patrol toothbrush and toothpaste (they are both on Amazon and they’re worth it!).
The “PAW Patrol 5-Minute Stories Collection” by Random House includes 9 adventures that follow the same format as the episodes. My husband has read these stories to my preschooler so often at bedtime that she finishes the sentences. This book might not be winning any literary awards, but if you have a PAW Patrol fanatic at home, this high-interest book is for them!
And if we are going to play nonstop PAW Patrol, why not mix in some science and measurement?
We started by creating our own Adventure Bay – complete with a sandy beach (indoor sandbox), 6 grassy volcanoes, and of course the Lookout Tower.
For this mission, each PAW Patrol character made a volcano (matching colors with food coloring) by measuring and pouring the ingredients.
Here’s what you help your preschooler do:
1. Tape together 6 empty 16oz plastic water bottles. Stand them in a rectangular plastic container with grass.
2. Mix together warm water (6 cups) and baking soda (1 cup)
3. Pour 1 cup of mixture into each plastic bottle
4. Add 2 drops of dawn dish soap to each bottle
5. Put food coloring in each bottle to match the PAW Patrol characters:
RED – Marshall
BLUE – Chase
GREEN – Rocky
YELLOW – Rubble
Red & Green = ORANGE – Zuma
Red & touch of yellow = PINK – Skye
6. When you’re ready, pour approximately 1/2 cup of distilled white vinegar into each bottle and ENJOY!
Your preschooler might not totally understand the science behind this chemical reaction, but they will love helping you measure, pour, and watching the volcanoes erupt!
Little learners today, leaders tomorrow… happy creating!
